Date difference calculator

Pick two dates and see how far apart they are, in days, weeks and months.

Type dates year-first, like 2026-08-14 if your browser shows a plain text box.
How these numbers are counted

Days is the distance between the two dates, so a date to itself is 0 days and one day to the next is 1. If you are counting a holiday or a booking you probably want the second figure, which includes both the first and the last day.

Months are real calendar months, clamped to the end of the month: one month after 31 January is 28 February, not 3 March. That means the leftover days after a whole month can be more than 28 — 31 January to 30 March is 1 month and 30 days, because the second month is only complete on 31 March. Calendar months are genuinely unequal, and a 30-day average would be wrong for every actual month.

Weekdays counts Monday to Friday across the same span, with no holiday calendar applied.
